One good turn daily sounds like a simple slogan that can be accomplished easily. But try doing 100 in a 24 hour period.

When Paul Hutinett, adult scout leader of troop 362 of Blue Springs challenged Boy Scout troop 362 to find a unique way to mark the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts on Feb 8, that’s just what they decided to do.

The good turns accomplished ranged from snow shoveling in the neighborhood to helping others at the workplace and doing good turns at school.

“Scouts are used to doing good turns daily but you don’t need a merit badge to help someone. Anyone can follow this principle,” said Tony Schamel, scout master.

Eagle Scout Kevin Gordon organized a celebratory bonfire where scouts will gather to share stories of the good deeds done and participate in flag retirement ceremonies.

Troop 362 was chartered 30 years ago by the Knights of Columbus in Blue Springs. The troop operates out of St John La Lande Catholic Church.
