Sandra “Sandie” Gadd-Riedel, 76, Independence, died Feb. 20, 2010 at the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence.

Sandra was born July 4, 1933 and raised in Lincoln, Neb. where she graduated from N.U. and later obtained a Masters degree in education from the University of Oklahoma. Sandra was united in marriage to Ronald Riedel and became the mother of three adopted children, Kevin, Brian and Sheri in 1967. Sandra was an active member of Timothy Lutheran Church, serving on many committees. She was also a member of the Alexander Doniphan Chapter of D.A.R., Bunco group of Liberty and loved attending aerobics and square dance classes.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Ben Gadd, Sr.

She leaves behind her husband, Ronald, of 16 years; daughter, Sheri Bennett, N.C.; brother, Ben R. Gadd, Jr.; sister, Linda Colby; mother, Leta M. Gadd (of 100-plus years), all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren; step children, Dean B. Riedel and Joanna MacDonald; seven step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Feb. 27 at Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 N.W. R.D. Mize, Blue Springs. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Mrs. Riedel was cremated under the direction of Meyers Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in Lincoln, Neb. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Timothy Lutheran Church-Gather Fund.
