Letter to the Editor
I support Starner
Have we not missed enough opportunities in Blue Springs? Our last best chance to make up for the blown opportunities of the past is the Missouri Innovation Project.
We are blessed to have someone as bright as Brien Starner leading this effort. The hour-long questioning he took at the hands of Councilman Sheila Solon under the guise of protecting the taxpayers was an embarrassment to the citizens of Blue Springs.
Did she really say, “What did Mr. Starner know and when did he know it?” It certainly felt like a Watergate-style inquisition of someone who, in my view, has the best, long-term interests of our city in mind.
I was wondering what the provost of the University of Missouri was thinking about his upcoming partnership with Blue Springs.
If Blue Springs is going to be competitive in the region, MIP is an important piece of the puzzle. While I could list the missed opportunities, I choose to focus on the future.
The economy will rebound. We must be ready for this rebound with a strategy. The man with the plan was unfairly grilled. Carry on, Brien...most of us support you 100 percent.
Dale Carter, Blue Springs
