Jerry W. “Pete” Sullivan, 77, Gladstone, died March 2, 2010 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Jerry was born April 20, 1932 in Hibbing, Minn., the son of the late Jerry J. and Lillian (Barrett) Sullivan. He was educated in Hibbing. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was united in marriage to Marjorie “Peggy” (Eckard) on March 13, 1970. Jerry was the owner of an accounting firm in Independence.

He was also an accomplished stand-up bass player. He played in many venues with various groups in and around Kansas City over the years. Jerry cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and looked forward to every visit. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Jerry’s smile, laugh and stories will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sullivan; a brother; two sisters; and a son, Gordon Sieger.

Jerry leaves behind his children, Debra Walters and husband, Terry, Kearney, Gregg Sullivan, Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., Kelly Kennedy and husband, Mike, Westwood Hills, Kan., Danno Sullivan and wife, Erin, Harvard, Mass., Christopher Sullivan, Oakland, Calif.; grandchildren, Chris Hagelin, Brian Hagelin, Cassy Gentry, Kristina Crawford, Patrick Sullivan, Rick Raven, Michael Sieger, Nicole Sieger, Brendan Kennedy, Nathan Kennedy, Emma Sullivan, Leo Sullivan; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and loving friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., March 6 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, with Rev. Terry McCloskey as celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection South Cemetery, Overland Park, Kan. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
