Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I have been told by friends and family to accept the fact the RED Development bailout has passed.
They tell me no matter how convincing my arguments would have been it wouldn’t have mattered. I am going to have to learn to fight the fights I can and to accept the fights I can’t fight.
I had to accept my mother passing away in a car accident at a dangerous intersection, but I fought to get that intersection closed so no one else would go through that tragedy. I had to accept my father losing his battle to cancer but I contribute consistently to cancer research so that one day no one will have to go through what he went through.
Only 48 hours were given from the time the information on the studies were given to the council members until the vote at the special session. This is not enough time to make an informed decision.
Furthermore, this study was not included in the agenda packet available to the public on the city Web site. The unacceptable part is that I received an e-mail from city hall; no citizens would be allowed to speak in favor of or opposition to this bond issue.
The citizens of Blue Springs may have to accept that this bond issue has passed and our voices were never heard. However, we do not have to accept that this will ever happen again.
Michael Freeman, Blue Springs City Council candidate
