JACO officers promoted

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp recently held a a promotional ceremony to honor two sheriffs’ department employees with promotions.

Sgt. Mike Rogers was promoted to the rank of captain and will be the commander over the Investigations Unit.

Rogers was hired as a deputy in 1990 and transferred to the Jackson County Drug Task Force in 1997 and worked there until July 2004. Rogers was then promoted to the rank of sergeant in July of 2004 and worked as a road patrol sergeant until January 2009, at which time he served as the executive officer. In January 2010, he supervised the new Drug Interdiction Unit.

Deputy Dale Covey was promoted to the rank of sergeant and is now assigned to road patrol.

Covey was hired in 1986 as a deputy and in 1995 transferred to the Jackson County Drug Task Force where he worked until 2003. In 2003, Covey returned to the road patrol division and took on the responsibilities as a field training officer.

In October 2008, Covey transferred to the Traffic Safety Unit.

Sharp expressed appreciation to Rogers and Covey for each of their outstanding work performance over their years of service with the sheriff’s office.
