Dave Wright, Blue Springs School District board of education member and past-president, was sworn in as the new president of the Missouri School Board’s Association during the 2010 MSBA Leadership Summit conference, June 11-12 in Columbia.
After taking the oath of office, Wright spoke to school board members from across Missouri citing his theme for the upcoming year, “History in the making…one Missouri child at a time.”
“Each one of the more than 900,000 Missouri children we impact every day is ‘History in the Making,’” Wright said. “As school board members, we are a critical part of the process and we must safeguard and protect the system, the process, and the children. Those who elect us expect us to be the guardians of public education. We must share both our passion for and our successes in public education.”
Vic Lenz, a school board member from Lindbergh was elected president-elect of MSBA for the next year. Gerry Lee, a school board member from Springfield, was elected vice president.
Peggy Taylor, a school board member from Nixa, becomes MSBA’s immediate past president.
The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.
