“Welcome to Wing Stop,” is the first thing customers hear when they walk into one of Blue Springs’ newest eateries.

Wing Stop, a Texas-based franchise, opened its second Missouri restaurant in late July at 481 N.E. Coronado Dr., Blue Springs. The restaurant is owned and operated by Synergy Restaurant Group out of Blue Springs. Synergy also owns and operates several area Sonic franchises.

“For us, being in the franchise business already, we were looking to expand into another area,” said Lori Moon, spokesperson for Synergy. “We were looking for another concept and once we found Wing Stop, it was love at first sight.”

Moon said the concept is easy, as the restaurant simply serves chicken wings available in nine varieties of sauces, and eight homemade sides including their fresh-cut seasoned fries.

“We peel the potatoes each morning and cook the fries fresh,” Moon said.

Other sides include classics like bourbon baked beans and potato salad.

“It’s important to serve a product you love and that other people love,” she said.

Moon said Synergy hopes Wing Stop will become a familiar hang out in the Blue Springs community.

“Most of us live here, our kids go to the schools here. We feel like we can provide what the community is looking for,” Moon said. “We want to be a gathering spot,” she added.

The idea that Wing Stop can be a gathering spot is somewhat new to Synergy, as the restaurant is different from the Sonics in that there is actually a dining room.

After being greeted by Wing Stop’s enthusiastic employees when they walk in the door, customers order their wings at the counter and then are able to sit down in the dining room and relax.

“We even have a patio on the side that will be great when its not 100 degrees outside,” Moon said.

Wing Stop also has TVs – usually tuned to whatever sporting event garners the most interest – and a window where kids, young and old, can watch their dinners being prepared.

Moon said being a fixture in the community is important to Wing Stop. She said the store has already sponsored scoreboards at the Blue Springs high schools’ football fields and has sponsored a fundraiser for donations to the Wall that Heals project coming to Blue Springs in September.

“It’s truly what our company is about,” Moon said.
