Construction company files suit against RED

A Stilwell, Kan. - based construction group has filed a lawsuit against RED Development for properties on in the Adams Dairy Landing project.

The Phoenix Building Group Inc., filed a mechanic’s lien – a legal process which seeks to guarantee payment for contracted services rendered on an improved piece of property – against RED Development for $282,557.

According to Missouri Case Net, the lien was filed for properties on Northeast Coronado Drive.

These include Famous Footwear, Sally Beauty, the Gap Generation, Petco, Maurice’s and Game Stop.

While RED Development’s Dave Claflin said he could not get into the details of pending legal issues, he did diminish the situation.

“Disputes like this are common in multi-million dollar projects,” he told the Journal Monday.

The Phoenix Building Group declined to comment as of press time Tuesday.
