Calling all barbecue cooks to compete in the Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned 27th annual Blue Springs Barbeque Blaze-Off.

This state championship barbecue contest will be Sept. 10-11, at Hidden Valley Park Sports Complex, 6500 N.W. Valley View Rd. Professionals and amateurs compete for cash prizes and awards.

There will be lots of events and activities for spectators. New this year, will be the “Battle BBQ Challenge.”

Spectators will enjoy watching as contestants made up of a chef and three team members receive secret ingredients in which they will have one hour to prepare three tantalizing dishes to be judged by a panel of five local judges. Proceeds from the battle will go to prizes and a local charity.

Returning by popular demand, is the Buck-a-Bone Contest. Contestants sell samples of barbecue, side dishes and even desserts to the public for one dollar Buck-a-Bone tickets.
