The Missouri Senate has given initial approval to a measure making it illegal for motorists of all ages to text while driving.
The cause of a structure fire that occurred early Monday morning in a downtown Blue Springs office building is still under investigation, according to the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District.

Although some have touted the recent discovery that the University of Missouri is postponing the construction of the Mizzou Center in the Missouri Innovation Park as a setback, both the university and the Blue Springs Economic Development Corporation are seeing the positives.
During last week’s Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting, Blue Springs School District superintendent Paul Kinder was scheduled to give the state of the district address. Instead, chamber members heard a presentation on The Wall that Heals, a traveling Vietnam memorial wall scheduled to be in Blue Springs in late September.

BSHS students participate in culinary competition
